Teckentrup was fortunate, in that most of the team were already working with Microsoft Teams, making the move to remote working easier to facilitate.
Morning video meetings cover health and wellbeing of the teams, safe working, tasks for the day and updates on progress in all areas of the business. To keep up morale, the team join company-wide weekly Zoom calls "The Breakfast Bagel Meeting" to socialise.
Teckentrup has also been using Microsoft SharePoint to create a dedicated online portal for sharing news, positive stories and socialising, keeping everyone connected whilst much of the company is working from home.
There's been DIY projects, cake baking, a film quiz, a pub quiz, lockdown haircuts, birthday and wedding anniversaries, all shared by the team. A great example is the updates on Wilf (Anneka from the Projects team's dog...) and his time in lockdown. He's applied for a job as draughtsman, helped judge a cake baking contest and taken the treat challenge... watch the video of Wilf below!
Teckentrup is active in many sectors including rail, infrastructure and retail and has worked hard to maintain supply and support into these clients during lockdown.
We changed site operating procedures, both at our factory and onsite, to align with the guidance from Public Health England to allow safe working. Our factory team are multi-skilled, allowing them to continue to service orders from clients across all sectors that were still active.
We committed to maintaining our production capability, as long as it remained safe to do so, to support the construction industry and to allow us to meet our obligations to HM Treasury in support of its wider efforts to support the UK economy.
The Teckentrup offices are also ready for a return to work when appropriate. Safe distancing and sanitising practices have been made visible throughout the company. This includes the introduction of staggered start times and continuing to work at home if possible.
Tasks that cannot be completed remotely can be carried out at the factory in an environment that has been risk assessed and allows for socially-distanced working. No one can be certain how long these measures will be needed, but it's important do everything we can to ensure the health and wellbeing of everyone.
